In 1994, Ryan Agoncillo started out as a commercial at the young age of 14, beginning as one of the early Penshoppe's Club Pen models.

After appearing in various television commercials at a young age, Ryan auditioned for Mornings @ GMA in 1999 since Paolo Bediones was vacating his hosting slot. Since Ryan had a digital editing business at the time, he thought that appearing on television would make him more persuasive to his clients. He didn't receive any callback from the auditionees for about two months until the following Monday after Easter. He was asked to appear as a guest on the morning show.

As a freelance artist, Ryan continued on to appear as host of various television shows such as Talentandong Pinoy, Philippine Idol, ASAP, and Pinoy Fear Factor. With no exclusive contract, Ryan can jump from network to network, appearing regularly on the three Philippine media giants: ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and TV5.
